Hotel Guest Reviews of the Mayfair Hotel And Spa

We stayed here for one night as a stopover during our drive to the Florida Keys. I think this hotel is so architecturally unique and funky that it supplants most of those complaints and I would heartily recommend people to stay here at least once. From the rooms to the public spaces, I found the look to be so eclectic and cool. For folks who enjoy a little bit of photography like I do, there are lots of great photo throughout this property. It is not as dirty as others have mentioned. It's an older hotel to be sure so it's a little worn. But we found the place sufficiently clean. The jacuzzi tub on the balcony needs to be either replaced or just removed altogether. The rooftop pool is beautiful and pretty cool but closes at sundown, so no evening dips. Parking is $26 but there is a lot on the corner of Mary and Oak (about two blocks away) in which you can park at a rate of $1 per hour to 6 PM, $5 overnight, and $1 per hour from 8 AM onwards the following morning. We parked there and our total cost was $11. The room does have a strange configuration but we loved it. It just fits in with the overall funkiness of the hotel. We also loved the big roomy bathroom, which is equipped with a TV! There have been previous complaints about the free wireless internet being unreliable but it worked just fine for us. ...read more

Decor is a bit dated from the late 80's, rooms are dark and as a designer I can easily see how they could be updated and brightened cheaply. Courtyard is full of palm trees which is nice, but mosquitoes will eat you alive if you sit out there. I've stayed there 3 or 4 times and sometimes getting a WiFi connection is a nightmare - sometimes. But, the open WiFi is free unlike some hotels that charge $15 a day. Staff is nice. Can park cheaper across the street. I hate how one must actually enter the shower and have water sprayed on oneself to turn on the faucet - no one thought that out, and I don't like how there is no glass door to the shower. Coffee makers are in bathrooms, but there is no electrical outlet next to them. Floors can get cold and they used to supply free slippers but there weren't any on my recent trip (cost cutting?). Rooftop is very nice and chic, has a pool, and busy parties on the weekends. Elevators are often not working or have mechanical flaws. Nice patio off each room with a jacuzzi (additional charge to use), but at the expense of lattice work and vines darkening the rooms. Has a small fitness center with very little in the way of free weights. But it's free to use, unlike some hotels like the Gansevoort. Bar never seems like a place to meet people. ...read more

Stayed here pre-cruise and it was a great hotel with lots of activity nearby as we prepped for cruise. In hindsight wish we would have booked an extra day here. Rooms were very nicely decorated and clean. Staff was very nice and helpful. Rooftop pool was on the smaller side, but a great place to hang out during the day and evening. ...read more

Out door lounge looked awesome, it was closed (even tho it said it was to be open) and we didn't get to see the nightlife like the website suggested.

Beautiful decor and spacious rooms. Loved the lighting in the rooms. Bathroom had a flat screen TV and it was nice to have it on while getting ready in the morning. Very quiet and luxurious. Great place for a date on the pool deck with a stone fireplace and nice music. ...read more
